ROLLINS STRONG AGAIN AS MINERS SWEEP SALINA

June 21, Augusta, NJ – In an old-fashioned pitchers duel, David Rollins outdueled Daniel Diaz through seven innings, and the bullpen finished off a Sussex County Miners (23-10) 2-1 win over the touring Salina Stockade (3-9) in front of 1,487 fans at Skylands Stadium on Thursday night.

Salina opened the scoring for the second straight night in the top of the second inning as Bobby Webb drove a solo home run over the wall in left field, giving the Stockade a 1-0 lead. But that would be the only bump in the road for Rollins as, after allowing a third inning single, would retire the next fifteen Salina batters that came to the plate.

The Miners would get that run right back in the bottom of the second. Martin Figueroa would double with one out, and that would be followed by a Rubi Silva infield single, in which he hustled out the hit to set up runners on the corners. Luis Alen would then hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Figueroa and leveling the score at 1-1.

June 20, Augusta, NJ – The Sussex County Miners (22-10) scored in five consecutive innings to rally back from an early 2-0 deficit to defeat the Salina Stockade (3-8) by a score of 7-3. The Miners extended their current winning streak to five games and padded their first place lead over the Quebec Capitales to three and a half games.

After a quiet first inning, two Stockade singled and advanced a base on a wild pitch to put two runners in scoring position with one out. Second basemen Scott Stetson took advantage of the situation, sending both runners home with a single of his own to give Stockade a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third inning, Christian Correa was hit by a pitch and then advanced to second base on the first stolen base by a Miners catcher this season. Breland Almadova than sent his first hit of the ball game into the outfield to score Correa and cut the deficit in half to 2-1.

Martin Figueroa drove in Audy Ciriaco in the fourth inning after reaching on an error. Figueroa was picked off trying to steal second, but that did not faze the batter Rubi Silva, who continued to swing a hot stick, launching his team leading fourth home run of the season into deep right field.

Sussex County tacked on runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to bring their total to seven runs and surrendered one score in the sixth inning.

Matt Blandino (1-0) won his Miners debut tossing one and two-thirds innings of one run relief while scattering three hits and striking out one. Jordan Cummings (0-1) took the loss, giving up six runs (four earned) on eight hits with a walk and three strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings of work.

The Miners will look to sweep the Stockade and extend their winning streak tomorrow night at 7:05pm at Skylands Stadium.

June 19, Augusta, NJ – The Sussex County Miners (21-10) have seen a historically torrid offense over the past ten days – that only continued on Tuesday, as the Miners saw another offensive outburst to put away the Salina Stockade (3-7) by a score of 14-1 in front of 1,202 fans at Skylands Stadium.

The game didnt remain scoreless for long, as a Mikey Reynolds walk and a Martin Figueroa single made way for Rubi Silva – who entered the day batting an even .500 – to deposit a Mason Mayberry fastball well over the right center field wall.

Silva wasnt done, however; after Figueroa singled home another run, Silva ripped a double down the right field line with the bases loaded to score another two. A Luis Alen single and a sacrifice fly from Breland Almadova tacked another pair, giving Sussex County an 8-0 lead after three.

In the fourth, Jarred Mederos continued the onslaught by scoring on a wild pitch, which was followed by a Figueroa RBI groundout.

Après 2 matchs à offrir une certaine opposition aux Capitales, le Stockade de Salina a finalement eu le dessus dimanche après-midi dans un match de 4-2 au Stade Canac.

«Je ne sais pas comment lexpliquer. On aurait espéré voir une explosion offensive. Cest inexcusable », a pesté le gérant Patrick Scalabrini après la rencontre.

Encore une fois, loffensive des Capitales sest faite discrète pendant que le partant Brett Lee (0-1) retrouvait ses moyens plus le match avançait. Québec a été limité à 5 coups sûrs, pour un total de 15 en 3 parties dans cette série.

Les Capitales ont mis quelques manches à se mettre en marche, mais loffensive a fini par débloquer dans une victoire de 5-1 sur le Stockade de Salina.

Déjà en avant 2-1, les Capitales ont réduit davantage lespoir des visiteurs en fin de 5e manche. Un enchainement de 3 coups sûrs amorcé par un double de Maxx Tissenbaum a ouvert la voie à une manche de 3 points. Une séquence qui répondait au seul point de la soirée produit par le Stockade quelques minutes plus tôt.

Les Capitales ont obtenu plus dopposition quils ne sen attendaient vendredi soir au Stade Canac. Québec a tout de même trouvé une brèche dans la palissade en défaisant le Stockade de Salina au compte de 2-1 sur deux longues balles!

Salina affichait un différentiel de points de -31 en 6 parties à son arrivée à Québec, mais le Stockade ne sest pas présenté au Parc Victoria en touriste.

Les deux partants, Jordan Cummings (0-2, 8 RAB) et Karl Gélinas (4-2, 4 RAB) ont tenu le fort de brillante façon durant 8 manches. Chez les Capitales, Gélinas a laissé sa place à Donatello pour son 5e sauvetage de la saison.

Les hommes de TJ Stanton ont fait face à un Edilson Alvarez en bonne forme. Les Aigles ont profité des largesses du lanceur David Gates dès les premiers instants du match, pour filer vers un gain facile de 13-2 face au Stockade de Salina, mardi soir.

Après avoir surpris les Champions à Ottawa lors de leur premier match face aux équipes de la Ligue Can-Am, le Stockade est vite revenu sur terre en subissant deux cuisants revers consécutifs. Les choses ne se sont guère améliorées contre les Aigles, qui ont malmené Gates dès la manche initiale.

Le partant a accordé quatre coups sûrs et deux passes gratuites aux Oiseaux lors de leur premier tour au bâton et ce fut rapidement 7-0 pour les locaux.

Chris Murphy a quant a lui été très solide au monticule. En six manches sur la bute du Stade Stereo+, le droitier na pas donné de points au Stockade en plus de faire six victimes au bâton.

OTTAWA – Two runs in the bottom of the third sealed the Ottawa Champions first series victory of the 2018 season, after they downed the Salina Stockade 7-1 Sunday afternoon to wrap their series.

The win gives Ottawa their first series win of the 2018 campaign. Champions manager Hal Lanier says it doesnt matter who youre playing – winning a series is a big step in the right direction.

"We kept on swinging the bats well today," he said after the game. "But I was impressed with Rutckyjs start – getting four innings out of him was big for us."

In four innings pitched, LHP Evan Rutckyj fanned six batters and allowed just one hit. While he didnt pitch long enough to get the win, its earned the Canadian a spot in the rotation. RHP Jake Hale (W, 3-2) pitched six innings in relief to earn the win.

The games first run scored on a wild pitch. Salina LHP Daniel Diaz (L, 0-1) dealt a pitch too high for his catcher to handle, allowing OF Chase Harris to score from third base. He had previously advanced to second on a separate wild pitch from Diaz.

OTTAWA – Four unearned runs in the fourth inning ended up costing the Ottawa Champions, as the Salina Stockade beat them 8-6 on Friday evening at RCGT Park. Ottawa rallied with five runs of their own in the fifth, but could not catch up to the showcase team in their first game of the season. "We hit the ball well tonight, we just couldnt catch the ball," said manager Hal Lanier following the defeat.

RHP Edilson Alvarez was a workhorse for the Stockade, going seven innings and throwing 114 pitches in a winning effort.

Salina got off to a good start to their season, as they found themselves up 7-1 on Ottawa after only four innings. RHP Noah Gapp was charged with three runs over three frames and RHP Andrew Cooper came in to replace him.

Champions fielders committed three errors in the fourth inning and the Stockade made them pay by plating four runners.

The Champions bullpen has looked good in recent days. Cooper gave up a run in the sixth inning, which served as the first conceded by the pen in four games.

The Salina Stockade have released their 2018 rosters. The Stockade will begin their season as one of two International Teams in the CanAm League on June 8 against the Ottawa Champions. All players on these teams are players that are actively in the Pecos League and will come off of rosters from the Pecos League.

The Rosters will be split as one roster of position players will play in the games in Canada in Quebec City, Trois-Rivieres and Ottawa. The 2nd group of position players will play in the games against Rockland, New Jersey and Sussex. this will minimize time away from their Pecos League Teams will giving more players exposure to play in CanAm League. Tj Zarewicz and Edison Alvarez will manage the team while in Canada. David Peterson and Cip Garza will manage the team while in the US.

The Wichita Wingnuts continued to round out their position player corps on Friday, announcing the signing of young infielder Logan Trowbridge.

Trowbridge spent 71 games in the American Association last season with the Salina Stockade, hitting .224 with nine doubles, three triples, and one home run. The 24-year old showcased his incredible versatility by playing at least one game at every position except pitcher, though he spent much of the season as the Stockades shortstop. Trowbridge began the 2017 season with the Tucson Saguaros of the Pecos League, where he played just five games before being snapped up by Salina.

The Santa Cruz, Calif., native made his professional debut in 2016 with the Pecos Leagues Great Bend Boom, hitting .359 with five home runs and 45 RBI in only 58 games. Trowbridge also stole 29 bases in 34 tries, while recording more walks (36) than strikeouts (31).

Trowbridge, a right-handed hitter, kicked off his collegiate career with two seasons at the junior college level with the College of San Mateo. After hitting a combined .245 over the course of those two seasons, Trowbridge transferred to Cal State Bakersfield as a junior. He established himself as the Roadrunners starting catcher, gunning down 16 of 29 attempted base-stealers as a senior, while hitting .220 in 257 collegiate at-bats. For his career at Bakersfield, Trowbridge recorded eight doubles, four triples, and one home run.

Trowbridges signing brings the number of Wingnuts players under contract for the 2018 season up to 15. American Association clubs may carry up to 28 players during spring training, which opens on May 6.

For the third year in a row the Sal

For the third year in a row the Salina Stockade will serve as a travel team operated by the Pecos League. The Magical Run for the Stockade continues as the Stockade will face its toughest opponents ever. Also for the third year the Stockade will join a new league. After playing in the Pecos League in 2016 and the American Association in 2017 the Stockade will play in the CanAm League in 2018. The Salina Stockade will serve as the Can-Am Leagues 2nd International Team.

The CanAm League consists of six teams in the New York City Metro Area, Quebec and Ottawa. The Stockade will play each team a three game series beginning on June 8. At the end of the season the players that played for the Stockade will be placed in a dispursal draft available to be drafted and signed by the six Can Am League Teams to finish the season.

The Stockades Website will remain http://www.SalinaStockade.com. The teams colors will remain Navy, Royal and Silver and they will wear grey pants in all of their games. The Stockade will play in the following schedule
